The keys to happiness…

Yesterday marks a memorable day, not only because it was my brother’s birthday (also meaning my birthday is only 2 months away…..!) but also because yesterday marks – yet another – milestone for A and me.

We have lived in Oslo for a little more than 6 months in a wonderful apartment and have up to now enjoyed ourselves very much. However, a few weeks ago we received news of us having to move out as soon as possible. Since A had to leave a few days after the phone call to be in the UK for two weeks, I took it upon myself to find an apartment that both is affordable and works for us as well. Let me tell you, this was not easy.

Scheduling the apartments and finding out how to get there was considerably easy, evaluating the apartments though was very difficult. My eyes had to be what A couldn’t see on the pictures, and my voice had to be what A couldn’t hear the landlords saying and my writing had to lead to a conclusion as for if the apartment was good for us or not. Apartments ranged from super tiny, to super noisy, to super dirty, to superb, however nothing seemed quite to fit, nothing but one.

I did my best to give an objective explanation as to why I didn’t pick apartment A, B or C but let’s face it, when it comes down to it, you just have to go with your own subjective guts. So when I received a phone call, a week later, after viewing 30 apartments in 6 days, I was thrilled. Needless to say, my quest for finding an apartment ended that day.

A week later A arrived at Oslo’s airport. Now, since I had a lot of time to kill between all the viewings and ratings of the various apartments, I worked on a little surprise for A. Sometimes the simplest things give you the greatest pleasure and when A met my eyes and then read his welcome sign, he was happy and already forgot about all the hassles of traveling.

After a good night’s sleep, we headed to a place A has never laid eyes on before. Full of anticipation, fear he wouldn’t like it and excitement, I rang the doorbell. We walked through a little garden area and then, we finally were home… (again…. – a new home that is).

Now I am not going to put up pictures just yet, but let’s just say for now, we got the keys to happiness.
